If Your Alertify Device Does Not Connect To Your Wi-Fi

Use these helpful tips for all of your trouble shooting needs

Setting up a new device can sometimes come with small challenges. If your Alertify device is having trouble connecting to your Wi-Fi, use these troubleshooting steps to get it up and running.

Step 1: Double-Check Your Wi-Fi Credentials

Before anything else, ensure that you’ve entered the correct Wi-Fi credentials:

Wi-Fi password: Verify that you are using the correct Wi-Fi password for your network. Typos, incorrect capitalization, or outdated passwords can prevent the device from connecting.

Alertify username & password: Make sure you’ve entered your correct Alertify account credentials when prompted.

If you’re unsure of your Wi-Fi password, you can usually find it on your router or within your internet provider’s app or settings page.

Step 2: Turn Off "Auto-Join" for Your Wi-Fi

Some devices may automatically switch between networks, which can disrupt the connection process. To prevent this, turn off the Auto-Join setting for your Wi-Fi:

  • Go to your Wi-Fi settings on your phone or computer.

  • Find your primary Wi-Fi network.

  • Disable Auto-Join to prevent automatic disconnections.

For more details, check out our guide on How to Turn Off Wi-Fi Auto-Join.

Step 3: Perform a Factory Reset

If your device is still not connecting, a factory reset may help. Follow these steps:

  1. Locate the reset button: Look for the small hole at the bottom of your Alertify device.

  2. Use a pin or paperclip: Insert the pin and hold it down until you hear a long beep (this may take a few seconds).

  3. Wait for the reset to complete: The device will restart and return to its default settings.

Once the reset is done, try connecting your device to Wi-Fi again.

Step 4: Ensure Your Wi-Fi is Set to 2.4GHz

Alertify devices require a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. If your router is set to 5GHz only, your device won’t be able to connect.

To check if your Wi-Fi is using 2.4GHz:

  • Log into your router’s settings (this is usually done via a web browser or your internet provider’s app).

  • Look for Wi-Fi settings or wireless options.

  • Ensure that 2.4GHz is enabled and that your device is trying to connect to this network.
