How to soft-reboot your Alertify device

How to soft-reboot your Alertify device

Follow these simple steps to soft-reboot your device

Rebooting your Alertify device is different from simply unplugging and plugging it back in because the device has a built-in backup battery. This means it continues to function even when briefly disconnected from power. To properly reboot your device and restore connectivity, follow the steps below.

When do you need to do a soft-reboot?

A soft reboot is helpful when your Alertify device was previously online and functioning properly but has recently gone offline. This can happen due to temporary network disruptions or minor system glitches. Performing a soft reboot allows the device to restart its internal processes without fully disconnecting from the internet or resetting your configuration. It’s a quick way to refresh the connection and restore normal operation without the need for a full reset or reinstallation.

Step-by-Step Guide to Soft-Rebooting Your Alertify Device

Step 1: Locate the Reset Hole

  1. Ensure your device is plugged into a power outlet throughout this process.

  2. Find the small reset hole on the bottom of the device.

  3. Use a pin, paperclip, or similar pointed object to press the reset button inside the hole.

Step 2: Initiate the Reboot

  1. Press and hold the reset button with the pin for 5 seconds.

  2. You should hear a buzzing sound, which indicates that the reboot process has started.

  3. Release the button after hearing the sound.

Step 3: Wait for the Device to Restart

  1. The device will now restart automatically.

  2. Allow up to 5 minutes for the reboot process to complete.

  3. Once the device has restarted, the LED states on the device should display green and your device should display as online on your dashboard.
