Getting started with Guest Alerts

Getting started with Guest Alerts

Seamlessly automate guest notifications with Alertify

Please note: Guest Alerts are only available on PMS platforms such as Tokeet, iGMS, Hostaway and Guesty. If your PMS does not support SMSs, then Guest Alert cannot send SMS notifications to your guests.

The Guest Alert feature within your Alertify dashboard is a powerful tool designed to automatically dispatch SMS and email notifications to guests responsible for noise and smoking violations. This functionality is highly customizable, providing hosts with the flexibility to choose whether they wish to receive all initial violation notifications or solely follow-up notifications. This strategic customization allows hosts to grant guests an opportunity to rectify their behavior, and in instances where corrective action is not taken, it empowers hosts to intervene promptly. This ensures a proactive approach to maintaining a peaceful and compliant rental environment.

The Guest Alerts feature empowers you with the following capabilities:

  • Real-Time Guest Notification

Address noise and smoking violations promptly, regardless of the time of day or night. Guest Alerts, being automated, ensures that your guests receive immediate notifications, notifying them of detected noise or smoke, prompting them to cease the behavior immediately.

  • Customizable Violation Messages

Tailor your violation notification messages to align with your management style. While Guest Alert comes with pre-configured message templates, you have the flexibility to personalize both initial and follow-up messages for noise and smoking notifications. You can also determine the number of follow-ups to send to your guests.

  • Host Notification Preferences

Exercise control over the notifications you receive as a host. Opt to receive all host notifications for proactive intervention when a violation occurs, or choose to exclusively receive follow-up notifications if you prefer allowing guests a moment to correct their behavior before intervening. This preference can be easily configured in the Guest Alerts tab on your dashboard.

  • Unit Linking for Guest Identification

Seamlessly link your units from your Property Management System (PMS) to your dashboard. This integration allows you to identify guests in specific units responsible for noise or smoking violations, offering a clear overview of the situation and facilitating efficient management.

Frequently Asked Questions about Guest Alert
1) I have integrated my property management system and Guest Alerts are not being sent:

You may have not linked your units. To do this, follow the steps outlined below:

  • Once you have integrated your property management system (PMS), click on the PMS under 'Integrations', then click on ‘Link Unit’ then select ‘Link’ and select the unit from your PMS to link with the unit on your Alertify dashboard. After 5 minutes, the integration will work and your guests will receive Guest Alerts.

  • If this does not work, make your way to 'Guest Alerts', and make sure the ‘Enable Guest Alerts’ toggle is on.

2) Names don’t pull through onto the report

  1. This may take time:

How long has this been going on for? If it’s only been 5 minutes since integrating with your PMS and you notice a violation, the integration would not have had enough time to update.

  1. This could be due to the PMS system you're using:

If you are using a PMS like Hospitable, the API key used to integrate with Alertify does not support accessing certain guest information such as names and email addresses.

3) How do schedules work on Guest Alerts?

Setting a schedule will only enable Guest Alerts during the hours set. If you would prefer to be proactive during the day and less at night, you can enable Guest Alerts only for nighttime.

4) Why am I only receiving the follow-up notifications?

If you are receiving only follow-up notifications, go to Guest Alerts, then scroll to the bottom under Notification Settings and select the ‘Receive all notifications’ toggle so that it is on.
