Alertify’s cigarette smoke monitoring is always on and continuously monitors the air for the presence of cigarette smoke.
To turn on the cigarette smoke monitoring:
1. On your Alertify dashboard, navigate to Devices on the left menu, click on the device you’d like to edit, then click on Monitoring Settings on the top menu bar. Navigate to the left mini menu, click on Smoking and enable the Smoke Notifications toggle.
2. The smoking notifications are customizable and you are able to select how many follow up notifications you want to receive and how quick you want to receive them.
Best practices for using the device for cigarette smoke monitoring:
> Install your Alertify device in a common space in your short term rental. We recommend installing your Alertify device behind a piece of furniture, such as a TV stand, couch or cabinets.
> Do not install your device in the kitchen or near stoves or fireplaces.
FAQs
Will I be notified when a guest has stopped smoking?
Yes, you will be notified. You will receive an email and SMS message (based on your settings) when the device no longer picks up smoke. If the device is still picking up smoke on the property, it will send follow-up alerts to you.
How long does it take before I receive a notification for cigarette smoke?
Notifications are customizable. If you’d like your device to notify you after 5 minutes of cigarette smoke detection, or 25 minutes, you can set this on your Alertify dashboard account.
Can I set-up automated alerts to notify my guests that smoke has been detected in their unit?
Yes. When connected with a property management system, Alertify can notify your guests that smoke has been detected in their unit and to please stop smoking immediately. Guest Alerts are customizable on the dashboard, and hosts can set-up follow up messages and decide what those messages should be.
